Dubbed “America’s Finest City,” San Diego has always been on my list of cities to visit. And since the rest of the country seems to be permanently frozen, now is a perfect time to stay warm in “America’s Finest City.”
San Diego (and the surrounding area) definitely has my attention. The geographic diversity and climate changes of the beaches, valleys, mountains, and desert are refreshing. So far, I have checked out downtown, Point Loma, Mission Beach, Pacific Beach, La Jolla, Torrey Pines, East County, and Julian. And there is still more to see!
I really have enjoyed my time in the San Diego area. In fact, I like it so much, I plan to stay here at least another month!

Found your blog today looking up Airstream in Google. Very nice, love the comments on some of the unfortunate little accidents that happen to a new owner. I don’t have an Airstream, but am definitely thinking of buying one when I retire soon so getting information about them now. I see that you bought the Volkswagen Touareg, did you buy the diesel model? What is your overall opinion on it’s performance hauling the Airstream thru the mountains? Enough power to handle the high altitude? I am sure I will have more questions later, but this is it for now, keep writing and take lots of photos.

Judy, thanks for following! The Touareg has been perfect. It is just the regular gas V6 version, too. I towed the Airstream up over Tioga Pass (almost 10,000 feet) in Yosemite with no problems. I probably wouldn’t tow anything heaver than the 6,000 or so pounds I have with the 23′ Airstream. The max tow capacity of every Touareg made since 2007 (with the OEM hitch) is an amazing 7,700 pounds.
Once the weather starts to clear up in the rest of the country, I will head out of Southern California and take photos across the country.
